Run With Purpose
One runner. A meaningful journey. Apply to run the 2027 Boston Marathon in honor of Michael Chase, a survivor of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing, and support the Reflective Journey Foundation.
Our mission supports families facing unforeseen tragedy, children with disabilities, first responders, veterans, and local communities. This opportunity is open to all eligible runners. No experience of trauma or personal connection to the bombing is required. We welcome thoughtful, authentic responses.
THE ENTRY
The runner will use Michael’s annual survivor-designated Boston Marathon entry. This is not an official B.A.A. charity program bib. Final designation is subject to applicable B.A.A. rules and confirmation. Applying does not guarantee selection or race entry. The selected runner pays the B.A.A. registration fee directly.
FUNDRAISING TOGETHER
The selected runner will be expected to actively support the Reflective Journey Foundation’s fundraising efforts. Specific commitments will be confirmed before selection. No specific dollar commitment is required in this application. All fundraising supports the Foundation; proceeds will not be allocated to another charity this year.
The Foundation will work with the selected runner to cohost one pre-race fundraising event. Last year, we hosted a comedy show to support runner Brian Scott. We look forward to hearing your ideas.
MARATHON MONDAY AT PORTO
Our celebration at Porto in Boston on April 19, 2027, from 11 AM to 7 PM brings together runners, families, friends, and supporters. The selected runner will be a featured guest and is expected to help promote the event and sell tickets.
